Let’s talk about how to make social media for aesthetic practices a whole lot easier! 📲
Because between seeing patients, managing appointments, and running a business, figuring out what to post on Instagram can easily become another thing on your never-ending to-do list.
But here’s the good news. You don’t have to post every single day to build a strong Instagram presence.
You just need a little strategy, a consistent schedule, and content that actually connects with your audience.
So, let’s talk about what to post, when to share it, and how to make the process easier!
What Should Aesthetic Practices Actually Post?
I like to think of social media content in three categories.
Educate. Answer questions your patients ask during consultations, explain treatments, share skincare tips, or clear up common misconceptions.
Connect. Let people get to know you! Share your personality, introduce your team, show behind-the-scenes moments, and talk about your approach to patient care.
Invite. Remind people about appointment availability, seasonal treatments, upcoming events, and ways to book with your practice.
The goal is to create a mix of content that builds trust, keeps your audience engaged, and encourages potential patients to take the next step.
When Should You Post Each Type of Content?
Having a simple weekly routine makes planning SO much easier.
Here’s an example you can follow:
Monday or Tuesday: Share educational content. Think treatment FAQs, skincare advice, or helpful tips your audience can save.
Wednesday: Focus on connection! Introduce a provider, share behind-the-scenes content, or post something fun that shows your personality.
Thursday or Friday: Share booking reminders, appointment availability, or seasonal treatment recommendations.
Weekends: Keep things casual with stories! Try polls, question boxes, patient reviews (with permission), or quick practice updates.
Of course, you can adjust these days based on when your audience is most active.
How Many Posts a Week Is Enough?
For many aesthetic practices, two to three quality Instagram posts per week, along with regular stories, is a great starting point.
And if you can comfortably post more? Go for it!
The important thing is choosing a schedule you can realistically maintain, even during your busiest weeks.
Because consistency becomes a whole lot easier when you’re not constantly trying to keep up with an overwhelming content calendar. 😂
We talk more about this in why aesthetic practices struggle to post consistently.
What Should You Post Based on Your Specialty?
Every aesthetic specialty has something different to offer, and your content should reflect that!
Nurse Injectors: Share Botox and filler education, treatment expectations, your approach to natural-looking results, and seasonal booking reminders.
Estheticians: Focus on skincare education, skin concerns, treatment room videos, at-home routines, and facial appointment reminders.
Dermatology Practices: Share acne and eczema education, skin cancer awareness, provider introductions, and seasonal skin check reminders.
Plastic Surgeons: Educate your audience about procedures, recovery expectations, consultations, and your approach to patient care.
See? Same general content strategy, just customized to your specialty!
Which Instagram Content Formats Work Best?
You don’t need to turn every idea into a reel or spend hours designing carousels.
A good mix of formats can help you reach new people while keeping your existing audience engaged.
Reels: Great for reaching new audiences! Try talking-to-camera videos, treatment clips, and simple educational voiceovers.
Carousels: Perfect for FAQs, treatment education, and skincare tips your audience might want to save.
Stories: One of my favorite ways to build connections! Share behind-the-scenes moments, polls, Q&As, and appointment reminders.
And remember, people often spend time getting familiar with a provider before they feel ready to book.

How Do You Stay Consistent When Life Gets Busy?
Here’s where planning ahead can make SUCH a difference.
Instead of waking up every morning wondering what to post, try batching your content for the week.
Choose your topics, customize your captions and graphics, schedule everything, and you’re done!
Depending on what you’re creating, you might only need a short planning session to get your entire week organized.

What Can You Stop Stressing About?
You don’t need to chase every Instagram trend, redesign your feed every month, or compare your followers to another practice across the country.
Instead, focus on creating valuable content, connecting with people in your community, and making it easy for potential patients to learn about your services.
A little consistency and intention can go a long way!
FAQ
What’s the best social media platform for aesthetic practices?
Instagram is a great starting point because it’s visual and allows you to share education, treatment content, and behind-the-scenes moments. Facebook and TikTok can also be valuable depending on your audience.
Should I post before-and-after photos every week?
They’re great for showcasing your work when shared with appropriate consent, but don’t rely on them alone! Mix in educational posts, provider introductions, and patient FAQs.
How long before social media brings in new patients?
It varies by practice. Focus on building trust, reaching local audiences, and tracking consultation inquiries rather than expecting immediate bookings.
Do I need to be on camera?
Not at all! While showing your face helps people connect with you, voiceovers, treatment videos, carousels, and text-on-screen reels are great options, too.
Let’s Make Your Social Media Schedule Easier!
If there’s one thing I want you to remember, it’s that you don’t need to make social media more complicated than it already is.
Choose two or three days that work for you, give each post a purpose, and try sticking with your schedule for the next eight weeks.
And if you’re still thinking, “Okay Farah, but who’s actually creating all this content?” 😂
